NeelKanth Mahadev Temple
NeelKanth Mahadev Temple is considered as one of the major and popular temples. The name of Neel Kanth has been kept because of Shiva’s poisoning due to his neck becoming blue.
This NeelKanth temple is considered a part of Lord Shiva. This is one of the very important religious places for Hindu Dharam.This temple is one of the most respected holy temples dedicated to Lord Shiva The temple of Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is situated at an altitude of 1330 meters.
Mahadev’s Temple is situated Pauri of Uttarakhand in India is located 32 km from Rishikesh in Garhwal district. Before moving the rounds of the hill, there is a bridge near which a temple called Garud Chatti comes near, which has very beautiful pond near it. Garud Chatti Temple is situated at Neel Kanth road near about 5kms from Laxman Jhula.

In the Hindu Dharam, a festival runs in the month of Saawan, which is known as Mahashivaratri. At this festival, people go to Lord BholeNath to take water. Some people go crazy and they walk on foot and take the Ganges water and offer them on Shivaling of Mahadev.
This journey is in very crowded crowd, many pilgrims go to Neel Kanth and offer water in Shivaling and do their best. Many people come in the night to look at this Jhakia road. Shiva’s very beautiful Sundar Jhakia is in which the idols of Shivaji ji are decorated.
History Of Neel Kanth Temple
As per Hindu mythology, it has been said that the place where the Neel Kanth Mahadev Temple is presently located, it is a very sacred place where Lord Shiva drank poison from the sea.
When the Gods and Demons had churned the ocean to receive nectar. Mahadev Shivaji ji made his throat in blue, after drinking this poison that was produced during the churning of the ocean.
Thus, Lord Shiva is also called Neelkanth.The pinnacle of the temple is decorated with idols of various gods and Goddesses, which reflect Samanudarmanthan. As Shivalinga, Neel kanth is the chief God of Mahadev Temple.
There is also a natural spring in the temple complex where devotees usually take a holy bath before entering the premises surrounded by dense jungle. And as sweet as the offerings and the people whose dreams are fulfilled, they also arrange food which is also called Bhandara in Hindu Dharam.
